Look Who's FOUR Months Old....

Brody turned 4 months old on Thursday. He wasn't too thrilled to have to spend the morning at the pediatrician's office. He got 5 vaccines and screamed like you would not believe when he was getting them. Poor Moosey. The good news is it seems his colic has gone away for the most part, so we can stop giving him the gold plated formula (aka Alimentum) and go back to Similac Sensitive. His reflux still seems to be an issue, so he will stay on the Zantac for now.

Since he is such a big baby, the doctor said we could go ahead and get him started on solids. So last night he had his first taste of solid food-rice cereal-he did great! (And LOVED it!) She also suggested we start letting him hang out in an exersaucer-which he also LOVED! What a happy night of firsts for Brody-cakes!

A few stats for Brody at 4 months:

-weighs 15 lbs 8 ounces
-is 26 inches tall
-can roll over onto his belly (but can't get back on his back)
-is an expert at holding up his head
-sleeps through the night (for the most part)
-drinks about 46-48 ounces of formula
-tried his first solid food
-likes to hang out in his exersaucer (this is a brand new development)
-loves it when we talked to him and coos happily right back at us
-has the sweetest open mouth smile that lights his whole face up
-nicknames: Brody-cakes, Moose, Brod

Here's a few pictures of our big guy, his "firsts":

Happy 4 Month Birthday! -First time in an exersaucer!

Ten on Tuesday

1. It's 9:00 on Tuesday night, that should tell you what kind of day I've had. Nuff said.

2. The Smoothie Moovee game in the Webkinz Arcade is ridiculously addictive-I think Bryce and Jarron's Webkinz are now living in castles with as many webkinz coins as I have won.

3. Moosey Moose (aka Brody) is now wearing 6 month outfits. And they are tight. (Not "that's tight Dawg!" but physically tight.)

Seriously!

4. Jackson has pretty much beat the Batman lego game and has set his sights on finishing Ratatouille. Too bad there's no such thing as a professional video gamer, because I think he'd rock at that.

5. Bryce and Jarron have been using my camera lately to do some "photography". Too funny-they love taking abstract pictures and setting their toys up in poses.

6. I get to see my mentee for the first time in about a year tomorrow. Super excited to see her.

7. Brody has his check-up on Thursday-he'll be four months old that day as well. Check back then for the "official" weigh in.

8. I can't believe how many high school friends I am reconnecting with on Facebook. Who knew?

9. As I am typing this, I can hear the boys talking in bed, apparently there is some dispute as to who is the best at Nintendo DS. There is talk of a "battle". I hope it doesn't involve fists.

The Rowdy Bunch

10. My absolute favorite scrapbooking magazine, Simple Scrapbooks, is no longer going to be printed after this summer. This is such a bummer. I've learned so much from the talented editors of SS.

That's it for this week-check back Thursday for the Brody update!

Heard at Mall Cop

Just got back from seeing Mall Cop with the boys and their cousin Blaze. I'm not sure what was funnier the movie or the running commentary from the boys:
Before the movie-Blaze, sounding disappointed-"I saw a cop at the mall yesterday but he didn't run into anything."

During the movie-
Jarron: "OHHHHH, she took her hair off."
Blaze: "I think it's a wig."

Blaze: "This is my favorite part from the commercial-check it out-a pink bandaid-that's hilarious!"

Jackson-from 3 seats away during a kissing scene-"YUCK! That's disgusting!"

We had the loudest laugher ever in the theatre-this woman was literally slapping her thighs and HOWLING with laughter. My brother and I were cracking up. Not only that, but the person behind me was snorting!
It was a great movie-very, very funny.

And I'll leave you with this converstion with Jarron:
J: "Mom we should see Marley & Me"
Me: "Oh really is it good?"
J: "Well it's basically this movie about this dog and his owners. He's kind of crazy dog and is always in trouble but his owners love him. Oh and he dies at the end."
Me: "Jarron you just told me the whole movie and how it ends-you ruined it for me!"
J: "Ummmm no I didn't, I didn't tell you WHAT Marley dies of!"
J (whispering): "I think it had to do with his stomach but you didn't hear that from me."

Ten on Tuesday

1. Hmmmnnn...it was supposed to snow today. But it appears to have only rained a little. I wish I could be wrong at my job 50% of the time and still keep it. Derek did not say it would be like this...(Those of you in Cincinnati will get the Derek Beasley reference.)

2. Lots of people in the scrapbook groups that I am a part of are doing a project called Project 365, where you take a photo a day and journal it-by the end of the year you have a scrapbook full of "day in the life" moments. There's no way I could do it every day-I just don't have the time-but I am going to try and do it weekly. Check back this weekend and I'll post my first two pictures of "Project 52".

3. Funny Jackson story-a few days ago he was being his totally stubborn self. It was taking him forever to get ready for bed and I still had a million things to do. I was really exasperated and said "If you don't get you teeth brushed and get into bed, I'm going to beat you!" Now I would never beat my child-I rarely, if ever, spank the boys. I just don't find it that effective of a punishment and I don't want them to get the impression that it is okay to hit when you are upset. But I sometimes when I get really aggravated I'll "threaten" to spank them. So this particular night, Jackson went downstairs to ask his Daddy to put the toothpaste on his toothbrush (he can be really messy, so one of us usually does it for him). Chuck asked him why he didn't just have me do it since I was upstairs with his brothers. Jackson very matter of a factly said, "Mom said she was going to beat me, I think she means it this time!" :)

4. I had to buy a bunch of bibs for Brody this week-he's such a drool monster. I think the one in this picture is my favorite. Why yes, Brody, they do!

5. The twins are really enjoying basketball. My sister in law, Loretta, and I sat together at this past week's game. We got totally caught up in the game and were screaming our heads off. Our husbands are sort of known for how intense they are when they watch UK games. I think we sounded a bit like them while watching our sons.

6. Speaking of basketball, Bryce was playing and had a couple of people guarding him. I could tell he was frustrated, but everyone knew it, when he shouted at the defense "Will you back off?". Hee. If only it was that easy.

7. While I'm loving Facebook, I have had a number of people I really don't remember at all from high school that have requested to be my friend. I confirm them because I don't want to seem rude-but am I really getting so old that I can't remember these people? Central Baptist wasn't that big!

8. American Idol is back on tonight. I'm not sure how I feel about that. We watched it with the boys last year-they really enjoyed it. But I'm kind of burnt out on it. I guess we'll see.

9. Have you tried Goldfish Cinnamon Grahams? Not the big ones-the little ones. They are delicious!

10. My sister in law, Bobbi, had a birthday last week-I know she visits here from time to time-so I just wanted to say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOBBI!" You can visit her blog here. She's an amazing photographer and wonderful sister in law!

When Dogs Attack....

Sort of...here's little video clip of Brody playing with one of his toys. (Featuring a special guest appearance by Conan our dog.) And yes, I am aware it is sideways-I can't figure out how to turn it. Oh well, enjoy it anyway! :)

Ten on Tuesday

1. It took me an hour and half to get to work this morning. I was NOT happy about it. There is nothing I hate more than sitting in a car going nowhere with absolutely nothing to do. Plus it wasn't even that icy out just wet.

2. On a brighter note, the twins had their first Upward game this weekend and oh my! They have improved so much over the year. Jarron had 12 points (I know!) and Bryce had 2 rebounds. I was so very very proud of them. I can't begin to tell you how blessed I feel to have such cool kids (all four of them!).

Basketball stars!

3. Jackson has been cracking me up lately-as usual. He's just so stubborn, it's funny. The other night I made stromboli for dinner. He very dramatically said, "That's disgusting I'm not eating that. I guess I'm just never going to eat again!" and threw himself on the couch. I said, "do you want me to make you a PB&J sandwich?" His face immediately brightened, he leaped up, and he smiled this huge smile-"I love peanut butter-it's my favorite!" It just cracks me up how he can go from the depths of despair to pure joy in seconds.

4. I missed posting it-probably because of the holidays-but Brody is 3 months old! I cannot believe how fast he is growing. Bobbi took some really great pictures of him a couple of weeks ago that she has been posting on her blog. So I "borrowed" one to post here as well.

5. Speaking of Brody, the boy can eat! He's eating about 42 ounces of formula a day! And that's with a little cereal mixed in the bottle twice a day. I can't wait to see how much he weighs when we go to the doctor later this month.

6. Scrubs is back on tonight-so very happy! It is one of my very favorite shows, I have seen every single episode, so I am looking forward to putting the kids to bed tonight and watching it!

7. Why do people schedule meetings for noon? I mean seriosuly, if you are so busy you have to schedule a meeting at lunchtime you need to look into some time management classes. Just saying. (Maybe because I am annoyed to be missing lunch today.)

8. I've been feeling very creative lately-and have done a ton of sketches for scrapbook layouts-now if only I could find the time to actually put the pages together!

9. I find something new I love about my iPod Touch every day. Last week, I discovered an app that allows me to view all of the photos I have on Kodak Gallery via WiFi. I have literally thousands of photos on Kodak-you have no idea how happy this makes me.

10. The twins have started learning cursive writing at school. My babies aren't even remotely babies anymore. It seems like they just woke up one day and were big boys. They've never really liked taking the time to make their handwriting neat but you should have seen them last night slowly practicing cursive "L"s. They are so excited to hit this milestone.
